Industry Partner Expectations

To ensure a productive and meaningful capstone experience, industry partners are asked to provide consistent engagement, clear guidance, and timely feedback throughout the project.

  • Participate in Weekly Check-Ins
Designate at least one primary point of contact to meet with the student team for 30–60 minutes each week. These meetings provide an opportunity to discuss progress, address questions, offer feedback, and keep the project aligned with organizational priorities.

  • Define a Clear, Achievable Project Scope
Collaborate with Stevens faculty and CapSource before the program begins to establish a well-defined project scope, key objectives, expected deliverables, and available resources. A clear scope helps ensure the work is both valuable to the organization and appropriate for the academic timeline.

  • Attend the Kickoff and Final Presentation
Participate in the formal project kickoff to introduce the organization, provide context, and align expectations. Partners are also encouraged to attend the final presentation session, where student teams will share their findings, recommendations, and deliverables.

  • Maintain Ongoing Communication
Be available to respond to student questions, review interim deliverables, and provide input between scheduled meetings. Timely communication helps students move forward efficiently and produce work that is relevant to the organization’s needs.

  • Facilitate Access to Relevant Information and Stakeholders
When applicable, coordinate early access to the data, systems, materials, and internal subject-matter experts needed for the team to complete the project. Partners should identify any access requirements or restrictions at the outset.

  • Provide Feedback and Complete the Program Evaluation
Offer constructive feedback at key project milestones and complete a brief end-of-program evaluation. Partner input is essential to assessing outcomes and strengthening the experience for future student cohorts.

  • Execute a Non-Disclosure Agreement, if Needed
If the project involves confidential, proprietary, or sensitive information, Stevens can facilitate non-disclosure agreements between the student team and the partner organization before information is shared.
